Our association has a wide framework to define his direction. This is a space that aims to accommodate different projects. However, our actions are part of a virtuous model which respects and enrolled in the four pillars of the Earth Charter.

 

The Earth Charter

 


Principles

The four pillars and sixteen principles of the Earth Charter are:

 

I. Respect and care for the community of life

  1. Respect the Earth and all life.

  2. Take care of the community of life with understanding, compassion and love.

  3. Build democratic societies that are just participatory, sustainable and peaceful.

  4. Preserving the richness and beauty of the Earth for the present and future generations.

II. Ecological integrity

  1. Protect and restore the integrity of ecological systems of the Earth, especially biodiversity and the natural processes which sustain the life.

  2. Prevent environmental damage as the best method to preserve and apply the precautionary principle where knowledge is limited.

  3. Adopt patterns of production, consumption and reproduction which safeguard the regenerative capacities of the Earth, the human rights and the common welfare.

  4. Advance the study of ecological sustainability and promote the free trade and a wide application of the knowledge acquired.

 III. Social and economic justice

  1. Eradicate poverty as an ethical, social and environmental imperative.

  2. Ensure that economic activities and institutions at all levels promote human development in a fair and sustainable way.

  3. Affirm the gender equality and gender equity as prerequisites to sustainable development and assure universal access to education, health care and economic opportunities.

  4. Defend the right of all human beings, without discrimination, to a natural and social environment supportive of human dignity, physical and spiritual well-being, with special attention to the rights of indigenous peoples and minorities.

IV. Democracy, nonviolence, and peace

  1. Reinforce democratic institutions at all levels and promoting governance that obey the principles of transparency and justiciability, and the participation of everybody in decision making and in the access to justice.

  2. Integrate into formal education system and into the training, the knowledge, values and skills needed for a sustainable lifestyle.

  3. Treat all living beings with respect and consideration.

  4. Promote a culture of tolerance, nonviolence and peace.
